Windows 10: Trying to reactivate windows after changing the motherboard.

I hope you can help.

I recently upgrade my motherboard to a aorus b450 and I had windows 10 pro, but when I made the upgrade it asked me to reactivate windows which I guessed. so I went to the activation page, signed in and then I go "We can't reactivate Windows as our servers aren't available right now." I left it for a day and it still says the same thing.

Is the problem on my end or Microsoft?

If you are planning to change your motherboard, you will still be able to activate your Windows 10. In Windows 10 version 1607, there is a feature that you can link your Microsoft account to Windows 10 digital license on your device.
This can help you reactivate Windows using the Activation troubleshooter if you make a significant hardware change later, such as replacing the motherboard.

I understand that after changing the Motherboard you are unable to activate Windows. I’ll help you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• What is the error message you receive when you try to activate Windows?
  
• Did Windows 10 come preinstalled on your computer?
  
• Were you using a Microsoft account to login to the computer?
  

Ideally, if Windows 10 comes preinstalled on the computer, the Product key is embedded in the Motherboard. In case Windows is reinstalled on the computer, it should get activated automatically. However, if any hardware changes (such as Motherboard
or hard drive) is done on the computer, Windows will not be able to identify the license.

Reactivating Windows 10 after changing motherboard

Hi there, I just changed my motherboard and Windows is telling me that I must reactivate it. However when I try to use the troubleshoot, I go to a page where all my devices are listed.... except for the one I'm trying to activate!! Like, what the hell!
I can totally see the device on the website on my account, it's there!!! The troubleshoot doesn't list it, how am I supposed to activate it??
