Windows 10: Trying to register a trusted device that is not a Surface laptop

When I go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices, it tells me "We don’t see any devicesAdd your Surface, Xbox, or related accessory to see its warranty status and create service orders."I have an Acer laptop, not a Surface. When I click "I have a different device" it takes me to a support page that tells me to go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices. In other words, it sends me in a circle. Please help. This is very frustrating.

Just to clarify - this is the 'Use Trusted Devices' section in Windows 10 (Settings>Privacy>Other Devices) which I believe is specific to the computer, not Microsoft Account.

For example my Desktop PC has "My Passport 0740" which is an external Western Digital HDD I own, my laptop has no other/trusted devices, and my Surface has that "My Book 1140" (and is now coming up with the Surface Pen too). My desktop, laptop and surface
are all listed in my Microsoft Account as Trusted Devices (and all use the same Microsoft Account for sign in).

I did a google search and My Book 1140 seems to refer to a Western Digital media hard drive, of which I do not own which is why I am wondering if this is a device that is pre-installed on a Surface for some unknown/compatibility reason or if the "new" surface
I bought was actually used and reset or refurbed.

Have you already synced this My Book1140 with his Microsoft Account?

Suggest you to login to your Microsoft Account and check whether this My Book1140 is listed as a trusted device. If you have already added this as a trusted device in Microsoft Account then it will get automatically synced if you use the same Microsoft account
in some other devices.

This doesn't list the "Surface Laptop", but you might give it a try to see.
