Trying to Remove Security Manager AV Defender

Security Manager AV Defender has somehow become installed on my computer and I can't get rid of it. It is constantly updating or doing quick scans, which slows my computer down to a standstill. My primary virus protection is Norton. When I delete AVD, it shows up when I restart and starts it processes right away. Has anyone had this problem and how can I fix it?

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. Windows Defender requires AV pgm uninstall to be turned on

Windows Defender is turned off because you are using another AV progam, Avast. That's normal.

If you want to use Avast, you don't have to do anything.

If you would want to use Windows Defender, you would have to uninstall Avast with the help of their removal too, see

List of anti-malware product removal tools

After a reboot, Windows Defender should be automatically enabled.

windows defender & security center services keep turning off

Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.
