Windows 10: Trying to remove Windows Pin on my personal PC -- Option locked behind "organizations...

I was trying to change/remove my PIN this morning and switch over to a local account PW. Under Sign-In options to change pin, I have this message: https://i.imgur.com/Fr5GXDS.png

This PC is my own custom personal PC I build and recently reinstalled Windows on after buying a new SSD. I do not have a domain/workgroup setup, but I am an engineer and have my own personal setup. But no domain at all, ever.

A recent post on Microsofts forums shows a directory to delete, though both through Admin CMD and through File Explorer I get permission problems: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...izations/3be0843d-e786-4c5f-9cb6-ef139606d125

At this point I've been able to make it so I can login using a local account rather than my Microsoft, which is fine, but it's still defaulting to PIN and I can't even change the PIN right now if I wanted it seems.

Has anyone else ran into this recently and have a solution? I'm almost tempted to just reinstall Windows fresh.

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

• What is the make and model of the computer? If you are using a Desktop, please help us with the make and model of the keyboard.
  
• Have you enabled PIN to sign in to the computer? If yes, are you facing any issues with PIN sign in?
  

In the meantime, you can follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:



I suggest you to check if the NUM lock key is on or not. If not, please press it to turn on NUM lock and try entering the PIN.



Method 1: Using On-Screen keyboard.



You can try using the On-Screen keyboard and see if the issue persists. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type osk and click on OK.
   
3. Once opened, please use it to type the PIN.
   

Method 2: Disable PIN.



I suggest you to disable PIN set up and then check if the issue persists. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Account.
   
3. Click on Sign-in options.
   
4. Under PIN, click on Remove.
   
5. Enter the password to confirm that you want to remove the
   PIN.

PIN is now being required to logon

Hi Kevin,

If you're having trouble using your PIN to sign into Windows, you can try resetting your PIN. Kindly check this
link regarding PIN sign-in issues.

If that doesn't work. We suggest resetting your PC.

Warning: Following these steps will remove all of your data, programs, and settings

• 
  Start your PC and select the Power icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the lock screen.
  
• 
  While holding down the Shift key, select Restart.
  
• 
  On the Boot options menu, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.
  
• 
  Your PC will restart and will reset itself.
