  1. Trying to reset PC after migrating OS to SSD, deleted contents of Recovery Partition,...

Hi all,THE MAIN ISSUE: Today I decided I want to reset my PC but it told me that it couldn't find the recovery environment whether the external drive was plugged in or not. I believe when I migrated the OS it created a separate "local drive" for the recovery environment G:, and at some point deleted its contents not knowing what it was. I know, I'm dumb. I don't think I can use partition recovery tools because the partition still exists, however there is nothing inside its "Recovery" folder: Windows Installation Media won't download on my compatible USB drive error code 0x80070003 - 0xA001

    :)

  2. Migrate OS to SSD

I cannot figure out how to move windows 10 os to new SSD. The C drive is not partitioned so the 1.8 TB drive is trying to migrate to the 500gb SSD, which it will not allow me to do. Is there a way to seperate just the OS from the C drive ?

Will deleting the factory partition render the recovery disk useless?

More than likely it is of no use NOW . The recovery disk is nothing more than drivers and some BS . You will not get the OS and recovering from a recovery disk only works if the drive partition is fine and has been untouched by any one .
The best thing to do is delete all the partitions and just install windows on the HDD make your own recovery disk and your done not to mention you get all that drive space back .

Remove Recovery Partition and Go to Recovery Drive During HDD to SSD Upgrade

    What I wanted

    • Remove the recovery partition
    • Use a recovery drive

My view now is that the best solution is

    • The migration software will not copy the recovery partition - effectively removing it from the SSD
    • Use a recovery drive. (I will use the control panel utility to put recovery tools on a usb flash drive - giving me a recovery drive to use.)

I believe my question is answered. Thank you for your help.
