Windows 10: Trying to update visual studio 2022 pro, it can’t seem to install the required c++ rdistro...

The question is as above. Backstory: I tried to update to a newer vs 2022 version, and got that when it tried to update. It seems to be trying to update the redist version. Doing this manually results in the same error every time. 0x08009009: invalid flags. I can't even count the number of times i've asked this quest

How can I associate my Visual Studio 2022 install with Visual Studio installer?

I have a Visual Studio 2022 install, I want to add components to it but Visual Studio Installer says "No products are installed"

Clicking the button from the Visual Studio installer shows this window (I can't add the image, so I will symbolically type it out):
