    Trying to Upgrade Windows 10 keeps giving me the 800704B8-3001A error


    I have a W10 1607 LTSB install that I'm trying to upgrade. I've tried taking it to 2019 LTSC as well as 1809 and 1903. I believe that I've done this same upgrade on a different Windows machine and it worked just fine. I get thru all of the install and then it reboots and does updates to 30%, reboots again, does nothing else and then reboots again and then starts undoing everything that it did and when I log in I get this error relating to a failure of the FIRST_BOOT phase.


    I've looked thru the log files, which I will attach here when I figure out how and have worked thru a number of errors. I've re-licensed and reactivated the machine, I've reset the security settings and even ran the Windows update troubleshooter. I can see where some of these things have changed the content of the log files, but the error persists. Any other ideas are welcome.

    Hello,

    I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10 on one of our computers. We have five computers and four of them have done the upgrade without a problem. The fifth one tries to upgrade, it goes through all the process and then reinstalls windows 8.1? The error message
    which then comes up is that it failed on 1 update and gives the error code 800704B8-3001A then it says Windows Update ran into a problem. It says get help with this error but there is no real help available.

    Does anyone know what this is.

    Can't upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10. Getting 800704B8 3001A


    I've successfully upgraded two other windows 7 computers for our thrift stores. This third one is proving to be a challenge. I've tried installing from media creation tool twice, also from a USB. I've removed all antivirus programs. I've tried updating twice while in clean boot mode. Still having no luck. I'm sure there's an answer but I can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Windows 10 upgrade error: 80070534-3001A

    Attempt to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Home, version 1511,10586

    Results in error: "Windows update encountered and unknown error: 80070534-3001A"

    I have followed the advice in "Overcoming Windows 10 Upgrade Failures"

    which include Update Troubleshooter, Reset Windows Updates, de-installing antivirus, sfc, CCleaner, and clean reboot.

    Does anyone know what the error 80070534-3001A specifically means?

    It might help in getting the upgrade to run.
