Trying to use a normal gaming headset with one jack in a pc that has two separate jacks.

Hiya!I have a headset with a microphone I'm wanting to use on my computer. This particular computer has two separate places to plug in-- one for the mic and one for sound. My first issue is that the mic isn't working in general, even when plugged into the microphone jack. I've checked my privacy settings and such, and they're wide open for this microphone to work but it doesn't. My second question is, is there a way for me to not buy a Y connecter, and configure my computer settings to be able to use my headphones for both the mic and sound at the same time? I've been digging online for awhile

    :)

  2. Analog Headset Not Working Properly in Front Jack

    Hi Carter,

Please answer the below questions to get a better clarity on the issue.

    • Does the headset has 2 different jack?

    • What is the make and model of the stereo headset?

If you are using a single jacked headset with an integrated microphone, please be informed that this headset won’t work in computers as the headset should have a dual jack for speaker and microphone to work in the Computer.

If you are using a double jacked headset, please refer to the below article and try the troubleshooting steps explained.

    Jacks not detecting headset

It gives the response that the device is not plugged in. However I am sure it is. Why would by computer not be detecting the jacks?
    Ty

EDIT: there is a constant low buzzing noise when the headset is plugged into my front jack

Trying to use a normal gaming headset with one jack in a pc that has two separate jacks.

    Computer won't recognize headset microphone

Restart after disabling the XSplit. May not make a difference but worth trying.

What's left is the possibility the multi jack is the issue. A computer mic needs +5V DC to operate. If that is not being provided it could be a reason the mic is not detected or working. Another problem is the jack or internal components.

Since the separate mic jack works, you could get a splitter, to provide separate TRS plugs for the mic and headset and try that. If that still does not work, it suggests there is a compatibility problem between the headset and your PC (since you reported the headset/mic work in a game console).
