Windows 10: Trying to use System Image Recovery to switch out hdd, throws a STATUS_WAIT_3 0x80070003 error.

New drive is installed, drive containing system image is connected via usb. New drive is 1 TB. Previous drive was 2 TB.Steps I did:Boot into recovery modeTroubleshoot > Advanced > System Image Recovery > error thrownMenu opens when additional usb is inserted, but different error is thrown when clicking "finish" to start the restore. Error from this is: "No disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found." Followed by troubleshooting tips that I am 90% sure are not my issue.

when running win 7 backup on my win 10 64 machine, i have started to get this error:

USB HDD not found by System Image Recovery

Check BIOS Settings

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

Use Different USB Ports

Try connecting the external HDD to a different USB port on your laptop. Preferably, use a USB 2.0 port instead of a USB 3.0 port, as the recovery environment might have better support for USB 2.0.

Create a Drivers Disc

If the recovery environment lacks the necessary drivers to recognize your external HDD, you can try adding the drivers manually:

• On another working Windows computer, download the latest drivers for your Toshiba External HDD from the official Toshiba website or the chipset manufacturer's website.
  
• Also, download the drivers for the USB controller of the Dell laptop you're trying to recover. These can usually be found on Dell's official website by searching for your laptop model.
  
• Copy these drivers onto a USB flash drive or burn them onto a CD/DVD.
  
• When you boot from the System Disc DVD and reach the part of the recovery process where the external HDD is not found, look for an option to load drivers, and use the USB flash drive or CD/DVD with the drivers you prepared.
  

Use a Different Recovery Method

If the System Image Recovery tool still doesn't recognize your external HDD, consider using a different method to apply the system image:

• Boot into Windows normally with the external HDD connected.
  
• Go to Control Panel > Backup and Restore (Windows 7).
  
• Click on Recover system settings or your computer and then select Advanced recovery methods.
  
• Choose Use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer, and follow the prompts.
  

Check the System Image
