Windows 10: Turn of the select display button on all programs.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I don't know what to call this setting or who to turn it off. So I have a 3 monitor setup and in the top right corner of all of my programs and explored windows, I have these 2 buttons. One expands to fit all monitors and the other brings up a small window to choose which monitor I want the current program/window to go to. How do I turn this off as its blocking other buttons in different programs? I can't figure it out to save my life.

turning off the display option for power button

Hi Caro,

The function to turn off the display on your device only affects the monitor but the rest of the programs still run in the background. On the other hand, sleep mode turns off any unused programs to save energy. To change the power option on your device,
follow the steps below:

• Type Control Panel in the search box and press Enter.
• Select Hardware and Sound.
• Select Power Options.
• Select Choose what the power buttons do.
• Under Power and sleep button settings, click the drop-down arrow for
  When I press the power button: option and select Turn off the display.
• Click Save changes.

Once you're done, check if the music still plays after clicking the power button.

Following the instructions above was okay until step 6 when 'turn off the display' is not available for selection. There are four selections - 1. Do nothing, 2. Sleep, 3. Hibernate, & 4. Shutdown.

Noting step 4 (your steps) 'changing advanced power plan options', once selected, if i scroll down the list past 'power buttons and lid' to 'display' i have the option to 'turn off display after...'. Trying this route does turn off the display but again
also turns off desired programs: WMP, YouTube, Openbazaar, etc, etc...

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + X keys and select the Control Panel.
• Select Power options by searching in search box.
• Right side select Change Plan setting next to the power plans.
• Select the Change advanced Power plan settings.
• Under the list select and expand Power buttons and lid.
• Select Turn off the display under the drop down of setting.
• Click Apply. Ok.
• Close the LID and Check if the issue resolves.
