Turn off all power on shutdown but keep hibernation option

I am getting really frustrated by this, enough to post a question here:

Since I updated my system to Windows 10, my USB ports and other auxiliaries stay powered after I shut down the computer. This leads to my audio interface rapidly blinking its blue LED because some genius at Presonus thought that it was a great idea to have the thing blink for all eternity if it can't connect to a computer but still has power. Anyway, if I shut down from my Windows 7 or Ubuntu OS, everything shuts off as it should, it's the same machine, the exact same hardware, so it can't be a BIOS issue. Now, I was able to turn that off by disabling my hibernation option. But since I have three OS on this machine, I would very much like to keep hibernation but still have everything powered off when the computer is shut down or in hibernation for that matter. How can I make this one would thing simple thing happen?

Sidenote: Also when I hibernate my Windows 10 and then return to the Windows Bootloader first I choose the win bootloader in the ubuntu bootloader it automatically starts up Windows 10 again. Who in the world thought this was a good idea? What is the point of hibernation if I can't use it to switch between my OS? I want to choose which Windows OS to boot, no matter if the machine returns from shut down or hibernation!

Please help me despite my angry tone. Frustration level is high. I managed to build a working Hackintosh but I can't figure this out and it's driving me nuts. Please Microsoft, you can sandbox the everyday user in the home version as much as you like but please don't make it extra complicated for developers to personalize their systems. This is why I bought the Professional version. And things like this are one of the reasons why I develop on Linux rather than Windows.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the wot.

    Windows 10 Pro
    Version 1909
    OS Build 18363.959
I can post more information about mb and stuff like that but it shouldn't matter because I only have this issue with win10.

    :)

  2. Cannot turn off hibernation

We have two relatively new identical HP ProDesk 400s running Windows 10. The computers often go into hibernation over night, preventing us from being able to log in remotely, and we can't shut off that feature. Our IT guy is also baffled. We have tried:

    Turning off hibernation in Windows

Turning off hibernation in a command shell being run as administrator

Changing the Windows power settings to high performance

    Updating Windows, drivers, BIOS

Turning off power saving options in the BIOS

    Deleting Energy Star

Setting the BIOS to have the computer wake up every morning at 7:00 automatically

Basically, we have tried everything that makes any intuitive sense and anything the intertubes suggested we do. All HP could suggest in addition is reinstalling Windows, which is a bigger step than we would like to take.

  3. Keep programs running whilst screen is turned off - MSBook

    Thank you for replying,

Following the instructions above was okay until step 6 when 'turn off the display' is not available for selection. There are four selections - 1. Do nothing, 2. Sleep, 3. Hibernate, & 4. Shutdown.

Noting step 4 (your steps) 'changing advanced power plan options', once selected, if i scroll down the list past 'power buttons and lid' to 'display' i have the option to 'turn off display after...'. Trying this route does turn off the display but again
also turns off desired programs: WMP, YouTube, Openbazaar, etc, etc...

    Desktop Shutdown and Standby/Hibernate Icons

I discovered some time ago a simple means of adding two desktop icons to cover Shutdown and Standby/Hibernate. I now use these icons all the time as it avoids using the Start procedure, which I never use at all unless I wish to Restart immediately after shutdown. Even then, I tend to use my desktop icons. Just close the browser, click the desktop icon and it is done.

On your desktop, right click the free space, then click new shortcut, you get a Wizard, copy/paste the command for the location type from one of the below commands (in this case, %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState ). Then click Next. You are asked to give it a title - Standby, Hibernate or Shutdown, I suggest using "Standby/Hibernate", click Finish.

    Shutdown: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s
    Reboot: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -r
    Logoff: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -l
    Standby: %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
    Hibernate: %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Hibernate
I have listed Hibernate for reference only, as the Hibernate desktop icon does not work for systems reasons, Hibernate can only be achieved by manually using the Power Options properties panel.

Use CNTRL+C to copy and CNTRL+V to paste.

Hibernate is automatic if the Hibernate box is checked in the Power Options properties panel. If the box is not checked, then Standby is automatic. You have to select this box to give you the option you want.

Standby is more convenient if you are using the PC constantly, it is a quicker recovery, but has a power trickle. For long periods of absence, use Hibernate, it is much slower in recovering, but effectively shuts your computer down.

The Power options panel is found by Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernate.

The two desktop icons created can be changed by Right clicking the icon then Properties>Change icon>Browse>Windows 32>shell32dll>select icon>OK>Apply>OK
You now have two brand new icons on your desktop for Shutdown and Standby/Hibernate. It works a treat.

    My icons are :-
