Windows 10: Turn off automatic reboot with updates - lets finally solve this now!

I'm so incredible tired of getting back to my PC and find out that it automatically rebooted and trashed all the things that I was working on.... To be more precise; if I do not manage to turn it off, I will switch to a different OS. It is just so frustrating. It's okay if Windows tells me on a daily basis that there is an important update. And offcourse I will update my system and have it secure. But I want to do that when I have the time to do so. I just dont want it to restart my computer automatically and throw away all my work..... If have already followed so many guides.... but

# To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

Automatic Updates will not turn on

Hi,
I have just installed the April update for Windows 10, and was curious why it hadn't automatically installed, as previous updates had done.
Now when I go into Settings>Updates & Security>Advanced Options, when I try to turn on Automatic Updates it turns straight back off, and will not stay on at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
