Windows 10: Turn off Display is grayed out

I would like to change to never off the display setting of our desktop.

But we cannot change. See the sample picturelaptop for your reference. The computer is in domain.

We change already in GPO but still not working.

Hi David,

The option may have grayed out due to a recent update or change that was done on your computer. As our initial troubleshooting step, we recommend that you set your computer to Portrait mode by following the steps below.

Press Windows key + I to open Settings.

Select System, and then Display.

Under the Orientation option, select Portrait.

The rotation lock should be clickable after following these steps.

Display does not turn off when pc is idle

Kindly follow the below steps and check if it helps.

I suggest you to create a new power plan and check if there is any issues with the current power plan which you are using at present in your system. Follow the below steps sequentially.

Step 1:

Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard to open Run command.

Type powercfg.cpl to open the power settings.

You may create the new power plan by clicking on the Create a powerplan
on left navigation pane.

Assign the name you wish to new power plan, click on Next and change the settings accordingly and click on
Create.

Step 2:

Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard to open Run command.

Type powercfg.cpl to open the power settings.

Select your current plan and click on Change plan settings. (The power plan which you have created in the step 1

Set the Turn off the display to 5 minutes/any other time you wish.

Just did all the suggestions. Did not work. Display does not turn off.

This issue was from the beginning when I downloaded Win 10. I had Win 8.1 and the display always turned off as I set it.

My pc is HP Pavilion Touchsmart 23 all-in-one. According to "checking for updated drivers on display and monitors", I always get the response that the drivers currently installed are the correct ones.

"Gray Screen of Death"

Thanks for your informative post!

I had solved my 2D & gray screen issue using advice posted by erocker (see below)
Mainly it involves creating a profile and putting higher 2D clocks:

So many owners of 5 series cards are experiencing issues with video playback (namely Flash Player). On the 5870 and 5850 specifically, 2d clocks are set way down to 175/300 to save on power. This is most likely not enough to play HD video, especially if the bios isn't switching to video mode. To fix this without flashing your bios, all you need to do is create a profile in CCC and edit it.

Open Catalyst Control Center (Advanced View).

Options-->Profiles-->Profiles Manager.

Enter a profile name in the field.

Below the name field, under the "Composition" tab, select "all Catalyst Control Center settings"

Tick "Save" next to where you put your profile name, then close. Do not activate the profile yet.

Now you will need to make sure you can view hidden folders on your system by going to the Control

Panel-->Folder Options-->View tab and select "Show hidden files, folders and drives." Close.

Go to your "My Documents" folder and open the AppData folder. From there it's Local-->ATi-->Profiles-->"Your profile name.xml" Right click and tick Edit.

From there you change the two values below. 300Mhz GPU / 575Mhz RAM worked best for me. I got stuttering at the tops of windows with 300/500

With multiple GPU's each GPU is listed separately in the profile (0,1,2,3,etc.). Tested and working with CrossFired 5850's.

Save it, restart, go back into CCC and activate your profile
