Windows 10: Turn Off Metered Connection Warning in Outlook Without Changing System Settings?

Hello!
Question pretty much in the subject. I have Microsoft Office 365 on my Windows 10 PC. I have my home network set as a metered connection, for a reason. I do not want that to change.


I noticed that I was able to change the "automatically pause syncing on a metered connection" setting in Microsoft OneDrive. However, I can't find any such similar setting in Outlook.


Every time I open Outlook it won't connect until I specifically click "Connect Anyway." I just want it to connect automatically rather than asking me this every time.


Every previous article and forum post I've found is telling people how to turn off the metered connection in their Network settings, but that's not what I want to do.


Is there a way to turn off this setting in Outlook itself?


If not, then why not?? But alsois there a workaround?

Outlook on metered connection

Hi zplugger, I've unsuccessfully searched high and low for this same solution ages ago and had a quick look today. Still no luck, only endless suggestions to change the metered connection setting to be not metered. duh

I have a wireless internet connection and truly have no appreciation for M$ suddenly deciding I must have this 4 GB update immediately. All my connections are set as metered.

I have noticed that some recent changes do allow me to use Gmail (without authentication type grief) on Outlook 365 with a metered connection. This did not work last year.

I'll see if I can find any new solutions when I get time and report back. *Smile

 

Outlook on metered connection

My computer is set up for a metered connection because of data limits. When I open outlook to check me mail I get a Metered Network warning (Connect Anyways). Can I have the computer set to metered connection and change something in the registry to let outlook run like its not on a metered connection? So no more warnings.

Disable Outlook "Metered Connection" warning

The metered network is a Windows network setting, not Outlook. Unfortunately, you can’t somehow whitelist Outlook for any or all of your connections or prevent Outlook from requesting the network costs before connecting. To bypass this warning, you have to change the “costs” setting for your network connection so it will no longer be a metered network.
