Turn off or get rid of Home in Win 11 w/out editing registry

How do I make Win 11 file explo's horrible "home" thing go away without hacking its registry or installing some other program? There's got to be a simple way to get rid of that thing. I'm constantly discovering after the fact that Windows decided to save my files in it. Driving me nuts.

    :)

  2. Registry editing

    Hello,

This issue may have occurred after one of the following situations:

    • You upgrade the Windows operating system.
    • You install or uninstall CD or DVD recording programs.
    • You uninstall Microsoft Digital Image.

Given that, we suggest performing the methods in this article:
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs
    .
The resolutions that are listed in that article may help solve some instances but not all instances of this problem.

Important:This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow
these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base
    article.

Feel free to update us with the results.

    *Think

As always, there seems to be lots of alleged fixes out there, which may work on versions earlier than Win 10... but not with Win 10. The struggle for getting rid of this now un-needed bloat seems to be wrapped up in file permissions. But even when I try to clobber it with administrative authority, it won't budge. One fix suggests that you can use disk cleanup to get rid of it by selecting previous installation files. Heh. Yeah. Just TRY and find that option in Win 10.

Ok. Somebody hopefully has managed to resolve this inigma. Step by step, please. Turn off or get rid of Home in Win 11 w/out editing registry :)

Getting rid of an update/upgrade to Win 11

Win 10 keeps trying to upgrade to Win 11. I have tried many methods to get rid of this. None worked. The last method I tried was this:

How to reset Windows Update components on Windows 10 - Pureinfotech "reset Windows Update manually from Command Prompt".

Before that I tried several methods involving registry edit.

Currently I'm disabling updates but that means that security patches are not installed either.

I saw a method which was about reinstalling Win 10 but I understand that the downside is that it resets your computer.

Is there no proven way to stop this upgrade?
