Windows 10: Turn on Bit locker without a trusted TPM

I recently upgraded my aging laptop from a standard HDD to a new SSD and upgraded RAM, I have Windows 10 Pro I would like to use the BitLocker, I have to enable it without the Trusted TPM as the original HDD is no longer in the computer (cracked HDD). Please let me know what steps need to be taken to enable the BitLocker for the drives on the computer once again.


Side note; Always have been a fan of Microsoft for the ease of use and the ability to configure it to the user!

Bitlocker in Windows 10 without TPM

Read the post and followed instructions. enable bit locker on samsung 850 evo system drive with win10 pro.

it asked for a password-- supplied

asked for a drive for recovery key -- supplied

bit locker was turned on -- symbol of open padlock and manage-bde status =hardware encrypted.

then I set to download a driver and went to sleep.

today the drive is unencrpted and turning on bitlocker gives the message " bitlocker did not revert to using bit locker SOFTWARE encryption due to group policy configuration"

Why did it happen and how can I revert to
HARDWARE encyption.

This issue might be due to problems with change in group policy settings for bit locker.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information:

• Have you created any system restore point on the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to manage the bit locker settings in the group policy settings by following the below link and check if it helps.

First before performing any changes in Bit locker settings, I suggest you to create System Restore point on the computer. So that we can restore back to previous Windows state if any issues occurs.
