    Information The layout.

The handwriting panel allows you to write in it with a pen (stylus) or your fingertip to enter text into any app.

Starting with Windows 10 build 17074, users get to experience a new way to handwrite on Windows. Typically handwriting is done in a panel that’s separate from the text field and requires users to split their attention between the handwriting in the panel and the text in the text field. The new handwriting experience brings handwriting input into the text control.

To invoke the experience, just tap your pen or fingertip into a supported text field and it will expand to provide a comfortable area for you to write in. Your handwriting will get recognized and converted into text. If you run out of space, an additional line will be created below so you can continue writing. Once you’re done, simply tap outside the text field.

If something gets misrecognized or you would like to edit what you have written, the same gestures that are available through the handwriting panel are also available, like the new insert gesture Microsoft had added recently. Overall, Microsoft believes moving handwriting into the same location as the text will create a more comfortable, confident, and direct experience.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off the Embedded Handwriting Panel for your account in Windows 10.

Note This experience currently works in all XAML text fields except the Microsoft Edge address bar, Cortana, Mail, and the Calendar app. These teams are working on making the experience more tailored to their applications. This embedded experience will *only* appear if you’re using a pen to tap the text field – if you use touch, the existing handwriting panel will be invoked.

  3. Disable Handwriting Panel in Windows 10

So, I've solved my problem, though I suspect my solution is not what Microsoft had in mind. This won't work for actual tablet users that are using the touch keyboard but not the handwriting panel. I am using a PC with a wacom and this solution turned
off the handwriting panel that was so annoying.

    • start
    • settings
    • search "services "
    • view local services
    • when the box pops up that shows all the services, look for the service labeled Touch keyboard and handwriting panel
    • click on it and right click, change the setting to manual, then select stop to stop the service
you can start it again whenever you like

  5. Disable Handwriting Panel in Windows 10

Thank you very much for your response, however, that does not work. That setting is already turned off. I've tried turning it on and off again, rebooting and none of the options I've chosen work. I have Cortana turned off and everything else related to
handwriting and still I get that panel. I would love, love, love to find a way to get rid of it. It truly is an annoyance.

Thank you again for your assistance.
