    The 3D effects like butterflies, lasers, or explosions that magically appear in your video.

    When linked duplicates is turned on (default) in the Photos app, exact duplicate files are shown as a single file. This might include copies saved in different folders, and RAW files.

    This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off showing linked duplicates as a single file in the Photos app for your account in Windows 10.



    Here's How:

    1. Open the Photos app.

    2. Click/tap on the See more (3 dots) button, and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

    3. Under the Viewing and editing settings, turn on (default) or off Linked duplicates for what you want. (see screenshot below)

    4. You can now close the Photos app if you like.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

    I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

    • Go to settings and system.
    • Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.

    Method 2:

    I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
    and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

    • Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
    • Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    • Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.

    •   get-appxpackage  *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

    Removing duplicate photos from Microsoft Photos

    Hi Tony,



    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    Deleting photos from Microsoft Photos will delete the files from the original location. However, Microsoft Photos will only display the photos from the folders that are added to Photos application. You can remove the folders from Microsoft Photos that
    you don’t want. Follow the steps mentioned below:



    1. Open Microsoft Photos app.
    2. Click on the Ellipsis on the top right corner of the window and click on
      Settings.
    3. Under Sources, remove the folder that has duplicate photos by clicking on
      X.


    To remove the duplicate photos from the computer, please navigate to the location where the photos are saved and then you can delete the photos are duplicate.

    I suggest you to set the photo gallery as default app and check if it helps. You may follow the steps below.


    • Go to settings select System.

    • Click on default app and select defaults by app.

    • Now select Photo gallery as default app.
