Windows 10: Turn on Windows keeping asking default program

Hi,


Currently, I double click my python file *.py extension and set Python as default program accidentally.

So, now when I double click *.py file, the python script will running automatically, this is causing me distress.

I want to know, could I reset it for *.py then I want to Windows always asking default program when I double

click *.py; because I want to use this asking to avoid double click by accidentally.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

 

Windows 10 keeps resetting my Default Programs for .wav and internet.

Please elaborate the steps.



For now let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below steps.

  On the Windows search bar type default program and select
  Default Program.
  
• 
  Click on Default app and click on
  Choose default app by file type.
  
• 
  Locate for the .wav, click next to it and select
  Windows media player.
  

If the issue still persist, if might be possible that the user account is corrupt. I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue still persist. Visit the below link to create new user account.

Keep programs running whilst screen is turned off - MSBook

I understand that you want the programs to be running with turned off display.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + X keys and select the Control Panel.
• Select Power options by searching in search box.
• Left Pane select Choose when to turn off the display.
• Select the Time to turn off the display. Click Save Changes.
• Check if the issue resolves.
