Turning off "Auto Color Management" when using HDR. How?

Hi all,I want to keep using HDR, but it seems not to be possible to turn off Auto Color Management when using it:This is very unfortunate as it makes certain tweaks, themes, etc. etc. unusable as text in File Explorer and many other places become unreadable:The above is with a "Mica for Everyone" effect turned on, including extending said effect into the frame. This does not happen with HDR and auto color management" turned off.Can anyone lead me to a solution? Maybe a HKEY that can be "changed"?Thank you!

    :)

    HDR mode and color profiles

    Hello

I have a calibrated ICC profile for normal sRGB mode. When i switch to HDR mode, it still using the calibrated profile, and giving weird colors and white balance.

I have tried to add a Rec.2020 HDR profile to ICC-profile (Advance color) list in color management. But I can´t use it at standard colors in HDR mode. Nothing happens when i try to applied it.

    So to be clear:

In normal mode I want to use calibrated icc profile for sRGB.

And in HDR mode, using the standard REC.2020 icc profile.

having trouble getting HDR color profile to be used

This may be a bit obscure, but I that someone out there can suggest a fix.

See my system listing for my hardware.

My system is HDR capable, and I have turned that on in settings.

I have produced a custom color profile my calibration using an X-Rite I1Display device and their I1Profiler software.

If I select that profile as default in Color Management, the display switches to the wrong colors about 15 seconds after I log in to Windows. (I can log out of the account and log back in, to the same effect. It obviously is not connected with a cold boot.)

I can manually re-select the custom file, and that will be applied after. (Until the next login.)

I'm probably doing something idiotic, but I haven't spotted it. Any suggestions?

Turning off "Auto Color Management" when using HDR. How?

I just updated to Win11 and now HDR is not working.

    Hi,

Fixes for Auto HDR Not Working Windows 11

Make Sure Auto HDR Is Supported and Enabled

If your PC doesn’t support Auto HDR, the feature doesn’t work. Besides, you should also make sure this feature is enabled.

To check if your HDR is supported in Windows 11, you need to open the Settings app, go to System > Display > HDR and expand Display capabilities to see if your system supports HDR. If yes, enable this feature. To enable Auto HDR, turn on the toggle of Use HDR. Then, ensure Auto HDR is enabled.

    enable Auto HDR Windows 11

Install a Color Profile for Your Monitor

Many Auto HDR issues can be fixed by a color profile installation, and this can stop you from endlessly tweaking the monitor’s brightness and contrast settings. To fix the Auto HDR not working issue, you can also have a try.

How to do this fix? Follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Click the Windows icon and choose Settings to open the app.

Step 2: Type Color Management to the search box in Settings, press Enter and click the result.

Step 3: Choose your monitor from the drop-down menu under the Device section, check Use my settings for this device and click Add.

Step 4: Click Browse and choose the file you have downloaded.

    install a color profile

Step 5: Choose the new color profile and click Set as Default Profile.

Check Your Display and HDMI Port

Windows 11 Auto HDR not working can happen due to an incompatible HDMI cable that doesn’t support HDMI 2.0b. Make sure you use the required HDMI cable and this feature can work properly. If you cannot see the HDR stream option, this may be because the monitor cannot support this particular technology.

Check If PC Meets Requirements of Auto HDR

To use Auto HDR successfully, you should make sure the PC meets the hardware requirements:

The monitor should support HDR10 and have a resolution of 1080p or more (max brightness of 300 nits or more is recommended).

DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 or higher is required.

The integrated or dedicated GPU should support PlayReady 3.0.

    Final Words

Is Auto HDR not working on your Windows 11 PC? How can you fix this issue to get richer colors and more visual details on the computer? After trying these ways above, you can use Auto HDR properly.

    ADDITIONAL TROUBLESHOOTING:

Update your display driver: Check for updates to your display driver and install any available updates. This can be done through the device manager or by visiting the manufacturer's website.

Check your display settings: Make sure that HDR is enabled in your display settings. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display" and scroll down to the "HDR and WCG" section. Make sure "Play HDR games and apps" is turned on.

Check your graphics card settings: Make sure that HDR is enabled in your graphics card settings. You can usually access these settings by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "Graphics properties" or "NVIDIA Control Panel" (if you have an NVIDIA graphics card).

Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 11 installation is fully up to date. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update" and click "Check for updates".

Disable and enable HDR: Sometimes, disabling and re-enabling HDR can help. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display" and turn off "Play HDR games and apps". Then turn it back on after a few seconds.

I hope I could have helped you!

    Regards,

    R. Cord
