Windows 10: Turning on device encryption

I am running Windows 10 Home version 10.0.17763 Build 17763 on a Dell Inspiron 620 x-64. When I go to Microsoft account under this device it shows that BitLocker is turned off and a link with instructions on how to turn it on. (https://support.microsoft.com/help/4028713/windows-10-turn-on-device-encryption). It shows that there is 342.1 GB of free of 464.3 GB.


I follow this link and none of the options are available to me. When pulling up my system information where the device encryption support is show it states the following "Reasons for failed automatic device encryption: TPM is not usable, PCR7 binding is not supported, Hardware Security Test Interface failed and device is not InstantGo, Un-allowed DMA capable bus/device(s) detected, TPM is not usable".


Can someone explain this to me and how I might be able to enable BitLocker on my computer? Thank you in advance.

Encryption

For us to be able to isolate your concern why your devices page says it is not encrypted when you've turn on encryption, kindly answer these questions:

• Does this happen before you encrypt the device?
• Which Windows version currently running on your device?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

thanks for the tip. yes, the phone did ask if I wanted to set a pin. I tried my tests with the pin set and without a pin set. no difference.

it took a while, but I finally got this new update installed.

alas, same pathology:

• with a local Device Encryption toggled On, no dialog, no change in Storage status
• with an activesync policy from Google Sync (Google for Work), the Requires Encryption policy is ignored by the device, so the toggle remains Off, yet the device seems to be reporting back to the server that encryption is activated because the data is syncing with the servers
• with a native Office Enterprise that has a Requires Encryption policy, the settings toggle is moved to On and greyed out so the user cannot disable, the data is syncing immediately, yet the Storage settings do not indicate that the device is encrypted.

last thing. with windows 8.1r2, the Office Enterprise did seem to set the encryption correctly.
