  1. Turning on TPM in BIOS only gives Local login when restarted

HiWhen I enable TPM in the BIOS of my DEll XPS 8930 the login screen only gives me the option to login as my local user rather than with my Microsoft account. and there is no option to change user.I usually login to the PC on my Microsoft account with my Windows Hello PIN - anyone have any advice as to how to proceed? Thx

    :)

  2. Windows Security says "There is no TPM available. Please check BIOS settings."

I mentioned these cases earlier, they continue to hold up

    • Restart the PC, give no input, just let it restart back into Windows: get the TPM warning (tried this a couple of times)
    • Restart the PC, hit DEL to enter BIOS, then just save end exit and let Windows start: get the TPM warning
    • Restart the PC, hit DEL to enter BIOS, go to Advanced Mode, into PCH-FW Configuration, note that it is on Enable Firmware TPM (the only other option is Enable Discrete TMP), Save & Exit, note that it says No Changes Made, let Windows start: no TPM warning
    I'll add this one:

    • Shut down the PC, then boot it up again: no TPM warning
A simple restart seems to lead to the TPM warning UNLESS I go into the TPM setting in BIOS, but a full shut down will remove the warning the next time I power up.

  3. Cannot Turn on TPM

Yesterday the TPM was locked on my laptop.

Following expiration of the lock-out period I updated the TPM from 1.2 to 2.0 in the bios.

Now when I try and prepare the TPM I get the error message detailed in the picture.

I have tried a number of actions to rectify including the following:

    • Turned TPM off and on
    • Disabled and Enabled TPM
    • Cleared the TPM

Any ideas on how to rectify this?

The only thing to mention is that I updated the Bios to the latest version earlier in the week then I did the TPM Bios update.

  4. Turning on TPM in BIOS only gives Local login when restarted

Windows Security says "There is no TPM available. Please check BIOS settings."

I just did a couple of tests:

    • Restart the PC, give no input, just let it restart back into Windows: get the TPM warning (tried this a couple of times)
    • Restart the PC, hit DEL to enter BIOS, then just save end exit and let Windows start: get the TPM warning
    • Restart the PC, hit DEL to enter BIOS, go to Advanced Mode, into PCH-FW Configuration, note that it is on Enable Firmware TPM (the only other option is Enable Discrete TMP), Save & Exit, note that it says No Changes Made, let Windows start: no TPM warning
Not sure what it means, but that seems consistent so far.
