Two C:\Users\ Directories - Can I Delete One of Them?

Somehow I've ended up with two profiles:
    C:\Users\ Johnson
    and
    C:\Users\regard Johnson

The C:\Users\regard Johnson does not have a single file in any folder, and has only these folders:

and the Windows Startup Screen says Johnson, not regard Johnson.

I've checked out Control Panel > User Accounts: I looked at "Make changes to my account in PC settings", "Change your account name", "Change your account type", "Manage another account", and "Change User Account Control settings", "Manage your credentials", and "Configure advanced user profile properties" . . .but can't find any way of deleting the regard Johnson account..
"Manage another account" only shows Johnson, which is the one I want to keep.

Is there a way to delete C:\Users\regard Johnson?

    :)

  2. How to change filename in Users

I bought a new pc after my old one died. I used the same Microsoft account etc but in file explorer in new one I see c:\users\sanka. I will like to have what I always used in last 10 years like c:\users\sankarmukh.

I created a new folder c:\users\sankarmukh and I copied the directories that were inside sanka. Right now most of them are empty because I want to have this similar to my old one.

However, I am not being able to delete the directory sanka because it keeps saying that it is in use.

Why did the install create sanka directory ? It has now AppData directory in it.

Is there a way to delete it or do I have to live with it?

    regards,

    Sankar

  3. Cannot delete application shortcut from desktop

You can try to navigate to your C:\Users\Public\Desktop or C:\Users\Default\Desktop directory and see if it is there. If so, try and delete it from that directory. Please let me know if that helps.

Have you tried the Computer Management Window? (Right click on the start button to access)

Look in the Local Users and Groups section and see if it appears under your list of users where you should be able to right click on it and delete it.

If it is not there you could simply delete the folder from your C:\Users directory. As always make sure you have backups and system restore points set before making any changes.

There's no "Local Users and Groups section" in Computer Management. Guess I'll just try deleting from WinExplorer.

That would indicate that you do not have the PRO version of W10. It is helpful to be more specific with your System Specs then we know what version you are using and other details of your system.
