Windows 10: Two computers playing up since last update.

Hi,

I am certainly getting sick of this.

For about the last ten days I have wasted most of each day trying to sort out my 2 windows 10 computers.

On both of the machines the first scene as windows 10 loads is totally out of focus and fuzzy.

Maybe this is a new feature of windows 10 in the new update .

On my gaming computer I am unable to load the games even though they login to their servers.

DCS encounters a runtime error. Steam VR logs me in , prepares to load and then disappears.

When this first started happening I was also getting blasckscreen flashes.

I reloaded (reset) windows 10 on this machine and the blackscreen flashes have gone but the games are still not working.

On the other machine I had windows 10 running fine.

At the same time as my gaming machine started playing up , this machine really lost it.

It would boot but stay on a blackscreen from there.

I reloaded(reset keeping files and settings) using windows media creator.

Then it would begin windows but lock at a scene of a lake.

If I moved the mouse the scene would flicker , go black, flicker some more, go to a logon page flicker some more and then go back to the scene.

All of the flickering out of focus , ghosted etc.

I contacted microsoft support and they guided me through another reset.

The result was exactly the same.

I have reloaded and reset the machine probably a dozen times.;

The end result is similar each time.

Sometimes windows 10 actually loads and can be used.

But when you turn it off and try to restart it goes back to the not loading and flickering again.

The last 4 or 5 attempts to reload windows I have given up trying to save anything and am trying to do an install saving nothing.

Still the same result.

I have now wasted more than a week trying to fix these machines and achieved basically nothing.

I cannot believe that it is a coincidence that they both failed with similar problems immediately after a windows 10 update.

I have followed Glen's suggestions to no avail.

Any ideas??

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Intel E5200 Gets Updated, R0 Stepping Coming Up

Intel's Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is getting on course for a specifications update. The chip will feature in a new, improved Wolfdale-2M core, spec'd out as the R0 stepping, from its current M0 stepping. The new stepping is intended to add new instructions, power-management features, and bring about changes in the chip-package. A short list of known changes is as follows:

• CPUID changed from 10677 to 1067A
• Power State Indicator (PSI) support with Intel 4 series chipsets
• New instructions - XSAVE and XRSTOR
• New S-spec and MM numbers
• New halide-free chip package

Due to the changed CPUID, users may require BIOS updates to detect the CPU. According to the company, E5200 R0 should be out by April 13.
