  1. Two different accounts made? I’m using one, and another different one is in C:\Users? Why...

    As in title.

I’m using an admin account right now on my laptop, but it appears I have to get permission from a different User to delete a folder. This user was made by me as it has the first five letters of my username, but I don’t know how to take control of it? My current account doesn’t even appear in the Users folder? I should really have owner perms but I don’t seem to?

  2. Different user accounts, different not working apps.

    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft community and thank you for posting your query.

Sorry for the inconvenience cause to you. I will be glad to help you with this.

I appreciate your time and effort trying to fix the issue. Let’s try simple steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue.

    Method 1.

For the issue with admin, I would suggest you to create a new user account and check if this helps. Visit the below link.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-10

    Method 2.

For the issue with start menu and search bar, go to the below link and try the suggestion provided by M. Hamer

Troubleshoot problems opening the Start menu or Cortana

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

  3. Kari Win User
different user accounts, only one email address?

Hi Geoff, welcome to the Ten Forums.

In Windows 10 it is not possible to use the same MS account for more than one user account on the same computer. If User-A signs in with an MS account User-A@AnyEmail.com, that MS account (email address) cannot be used to sign in any other user than User-A. User-B needs to use either a different MS account or a local account. However, you can use the same MS account on multiple computers.

There's no way to work around this restriction.

In your case I would simply install Windows 10 on both computers with a local admin account, then create an additional standard user account as an MS account on both computers using the same email address. If any of the two computers requires the gaming account, too, as you explained I would make this account a local account.

Two different accounts made? I’m using one, and another different one is in C:\Users? Why...

What is the difference or relation between an user an account?

It's difficult to understand what you are asking.

You have 3 user accounts on the computer? And hence 3 subfolders within C:\Users\?

If your 3 user accounts are "local" accounts i.e. they exist on the computer only, the folder names within C:\Users\ will match the user names you see at the top of the Start menu [one user account name appears at the top and, if you click on it, all the
other user accounts will be listed underneath].

If any of your 3 user accounts are linked to inline Microsoft Accounts then their names in C:\Users\ and at the top of the Start menu should match, respectively, the full account name shown when you log in online to your MS Accounts and the email address
used for that MS Account. [Differences between these two ways of identifying MS Accounts might be what is causing your current problem]

Once this question is settled, I could ask why you want to delete a user. I don't see how doing so could correct any backup errors. But to stay with the question of user account identification a bit longer, the name used for any user account within backups
is most likely to be the full account name shown when you log in online to your MS Accounts.
