Windows 10: Two 'Documents' Folders under This PC

Hello, I have recently discovered a problem under the 'This PC' heading. I seem to have two 'Documents' folders. However, one icon is the correct for Documents, and the other is the icon for the Pictures. Also, my Pictures folder has gone missing.







I have looked through the registry and the default locations are correct. Also, under my User folder, I have all the correct files there.




Looking at the properties of the 'Picture' Documents folder, it shows everything as the normal Picture folder, but has a different name, and the directory is the Documents location.







I have tried using Registry commands to reset the default folder locations, and then restore them. But that has given me no luck unfortunately. At this stage, any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Documents and pictures... green check mark?

They're under "This PC" It's very annoying because I cannot see my real documents and pictures folders... But these two folders are cloud folders it seems.

The two folders under "This PC" are Users/toadb/OneDrive/Documents and the pictures is a similar path...

I wish my real documents and pictures folders were here instead, not onedrive documents

 

Multiple 'Documents' folders under 'This PC'

This behaviour started for me when I redirected my Documents folder to Onedrive. The system generates multiple instances of the Documents folder every time my backup programme (Goodsync) does an update and accesses the Onedrive folder. The multiple instances
seem to disappear on PC restart.

I am not interested in spurious solutions from Microsoft to this forum which in my opinion are simply time wasting to make it appear that they are doing something. This needs to be addressed as a Win 10 fault and fixed ASAP.

Yeah, I managed to resolve the problem at 01:28 this morning *chuckle. I found this page which explains about another user having a similar issue but on a different Windows.

Based on this, I went back onto the registry files, and followed: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders.
Here, I found all the directory listings.

I noticed some Names that I was unable to interpret, so I searched each individual one.




Using this website, I managed to match up the ID to the folder. I found that the Picture ID was directed to the Documents Folder, which would explain my issue. I changed the directory back to the Pictures, restarted explorer.exe, and it worked perfectly.




Now everything is back to normal, and I can now get some proper sleep! If anyone has a questions, please feel free to ask me, and I will try my best.
