  1. Two 'OneDrive' folders being backed up to the cloud

During the course of moving to a new computer I have two folders with the name Onedrive. The second folder just contains redundant files. i only want one of the folders to be backed up. I am unable to delete the second folder. How can I eliminate its files from being backed to the OneDrive online and be able to delete the second redundant folder.

    :)

  2. I have some folders that won't back up to the cloud

    Hello,Nathan Gibson2

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

Understanding that you are having issues with some folders not being backed up to the cloud, I would like to confirm the current situation with you for further analysis:

    • Is the cloud storage software you are using OneDrive or somewhere else?
    • Are there any error messages or for example freezing or failing alerts for the failed backups you mentioned?

Looking forward to your reply, which will determine our next steps.

  3. Deleting on-disk OneDrive folder WITHOUT deleting from cloud?

Dear Cerberus. Er - here's a picture of my OneDrive folder, if I can work out how to attach it to this! No cloudsigns or ticks in boxes, just a long list of files I want only in the cloud, not on the hard drive (but don't want to delete FROM the cloud!!)

It's come up saying 'Attach=Config}347209[/attach] so I hope something appears when I post this! Very sorry - how do I make the ticks and cloud signs appear? BTW - there's more in that list than's appearing in the screenshot, that's why it doesn't look like that many files. Yours respectfully Chris.

Automatically backing up folders on D: drive to OneDrive

Hi Dale. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Symlinks won't work with OneDrive so what I'd do instead of moving D into OneDrive is to move OneDrive to D which is easy to do during it's setup.

You can unlink OneDrive and then sign back in, during setup move the OneDrive folder to D drive. Then anything you put into OneDrive on D drive goes to the cloud, put it elsewhere in D and it doesn't.

You could also move your User folders into OneDrive on the D drive as shown here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-move-default.... . This is the same as enabling OneDrive backup but it works for all User folders and not just Desktop, Documents and Pictures.

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
