    My Setup:
    C: is a 256 GB SSD

D is a 2 TB spinning HD in the case holding my personal files (Documents, Music etc.)

A 1 and A 2 are two partitions on an external 2TB USB HD (Western Digital “Elements”)

B-1 and B-2 are similarly two partitions on an external 2TB USB HD (Western Digital “Elements”)

J on being opened is an exact copy of D despite its Used Space being slightly smaller

M on being opened is also an exact copy of D despite its Used Space being slightly smaller

If I open J or M and try to open one of its folders I get “<filename> is not accessible” and “The paramater is incorrect”
Shutting down and restarting after a pause makes no difference.

    Very odd!

    :)

Two opposing blue arrows have suddenly appeared in the files on my hard drive

    Thanks Sumit,

I already saw this solution if using Norton. The thing is I don't use Norton, I only have Avast Virus security. This is what the arrows look like.

    Can anyone help?

Do you have Norton 360 or some other Norton security suite? If so, that's why. The double blue icons means there are files that haven't been backed up. It can be turned off. Go to Norton
360Official Norton™ Support= and learn how to turn it off, reboot and they will be gone. For anyone that does have Norton 360,
if you kept it turned on, when you backed up the files, the icon would turn a solid green arrow instead of the 2 blue arrows.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

The icons look like they're from Macrium reflect. Are the drives used by that software - perhaps you have an image mounted?

Macrium lists the four real discs. No sign in Macrium of the two phantoms.

To expand on @Bastet's answer if you right click on either drive do you have an option to unmount or dismount, Not sure what it's called now.

No such options. The ones available are the usual ones for drives: Open, Open in new window, Pin to Quick access, ..... Format etc., including Shred using AVG.

Would shredding be safe? Would there be any risk that my D drive (whose contents are shown in the two phantom drives but have earlier dates)?

    NO!!!

These are mounted 'Macrium Replicate Backup Pictures' - they are your backups made by Macrium. To mount or unmount them you can use Macrium itself.
