    Two Taskbars Displayed

I am stumped by what I believe is an unusual situation in that my friend's Dell laptop is displaying two taskbars. One is active and the computer will respond normally when operated from the taskbar icons. The other is inactive as are the Desktop icons. There is an error panel displayed headed System Restore and stating `System Restore did not complete successfully'. There is also a TeamViewer sub window Session List and both of these displays are inactive. I have located the active taskbar to the top of the display and an image of the Desktop follows:

I have run system restore with no change in behaviour. I also ran sfc /scannow with the response `Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations'. I have undone the System Restore which completed successfully.

I would appreciate guidance on how to deal with this behaviour. I am at a loss as to what to do next. And I am happy to provide any further information that may be needed to resolve the matter.

  2. Remote desktop swap taskbar position

I've recently came across weird problem.

I have two Windows 10 Professional machines, one with 3 displays, one remote with single display.

If I connect to remote computer, I use single secondary screen for the Remote Desktop, so I have two displays with local screen and one display with remote screen and I work seamlessly between these screens.

Last time I've connected, both systems swapped position of taskbar. At home I have taskbar at top, remote computer has taskbar at right. After RD session, the taskbar home was on the right and taskbar on remote was on top.

Any thoughs ho to stop it?

  3. How to show the taskbar when in a full screen RDP session?

How to get the taskbar to show for some time when clicking on the connection bar in a RDP session?

Right now to show the taskbar I have to minimize the RDP session, which is kind of annoying.

The taskbar do show as I want it to, if I have two displays and click somewhere on the desktop on display 1 when having a full screen RDP running on display 2. Sadly this only work if the desktop is visible on display 1.

Just a guess, have you tried changing the background for the desktop? A screen shot can be used as a background. Also, right click the desktop\view\show desktop icons.

Something is weird here. There must be a 3rd party program causing this. Does anybody notice the taskbar on the bottom is for Windows 8.1, and the top one is Windows 10?

What exactly is the team viewer software pop-up I'm seeing?

Is this a Windows 8.1 computer or Windows 10? I'm quite baffled as I've never seen this before. I've seen 3rd party programs change the start button and taskbar, but not create two taskbars.

If there is no 3rd party program causing this, then a Windows reinstallation may have to be done.

Edit, ok i see the team viewer is a remote desktop software

Does the team viewer software need to be on there?

You are correct. The background is an image of when the laptop had Windows 8.1 as the o/s sometime prior to upgrading the Windows 10. I was bamboozled that I was looking at an inactive Desktop, icons and messages when in fact I was looking at an image!

Thank you for putting me on the right path and bringing me back to reality.

    Imaneke,
Your response helped me to see the reality; thank you for your contribution.
