Two unknown registry entries for VSS Diag

Hey,I have found two to me unknown registry entries in the subfolder for VSS.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Diag\LovelaceandHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Diag\Lovelace__?_Volume{LongVolumeID}_I am unaware what these belong to. I don't use backup software. Initially I thought they might be related to the Nvidia RTX Remix toolkit but that does not seem to be the case. I can't find much about this online and would like to know if this is of malicious origin or what application this could belong to? They do not appear in the list of writers wh

    VSS Errors 8193 and 13

I have to report that something strange has happened. Prior to changing the permissions as advised, I was seeing duplicate Event ID entries for 13 and 8193 in the Event Log for VSS all with identical times. After changing the permissions for DIAG and VSS, the events disappeared only to reappear a few days later but are now different. There is now only one entry for each event. The only explanation I can come up with is the fact that there were two problems both giving identical Event entries and I have solved one and the other still exists. i.e. there is only one error report for each reported event no matter what it is.

Event ID 13 refers to CLSID 4e14fba2-2e22-11d1-9964-00c04fbbb345. When looking at the Advanced Security Settings in the registry, the owner is TrustedInstaller, which also has Full control. System, Administrators, Users, All Application Packages and Account Unknown are all set to read only. There is no mention of Local Service or Network Service at all. As it was the latter that was missing in VSS and DIAG I will add and see what happens. I will report back later.

  3. VSS Errors 8193 and 13

Are you getting the event entry error after doing a backup and restarting the computer or are you just getting the entry errors because of the fix itself being incomplete?

The only time event ID 13 and 8193 showed up for me is when a Macrium Reflect full backup was performed and either the computer was shut down or restarted after completion of the backup.

I have seen neither since changing the permissions on only the DIAG alone.
