Windows 10: Type Spanish characters e.g. á, ñ, ¿, ¡... with U.S. English keyboard/language

Hi, what are shortcuts for common Spanish characters e.g. á, ñ, ¿, ¡... using a **U.S. English** keyboard and language?

Ovi Suite and Ovi.com mangles contacts containing non-english characters

Thanks for replying Samuli, I'm not able to reproduce the exact problem at the moment, but I can consistently reproduce corruption of characters with these steps:



1. Create a contact with the name ÆØÅ on 5220xpress

2. Sync the contacts with ovi.com

3. Contact at ovi.com has the name ÆØÃ



I have not been able to reproduce corruption of characters on phone reliably yet. If I rename the ÆØÅ contact on ovi.com to ÆØÅ or do not rename it does not matter, syncing the device with ovi again, I still have ÆØÅ on the device.

 

Are the makers of the windows phone HTC radar aware that the character "ã" is not available? A Latin character not available, this issue must be a virus, right?

On my HTC Titan, I just switched to the Portuguese keyboard option (Settings > System > Keyboard), held down the "a" key, and up popped a bunch of accented variants including "ã". (I just typed this reply on my Titan.)



You can have multiple language's keyboards selected in Settings, and toggle between them with the key to the right of the space (or as I type this, the "espaço") key.

 

Typing special characters on Spanish keyboard setting in Windows 10

Okay. Problem sort of sorted. It's now showing typing errors in English when I select the English language keyboard. But, when I select the Spanish keyboard I can type English words and the only time it will underline a word is when I type a word that would
have some character which is in a different place in the ESP keyboard e.g. "wouldn{t" comes up rather than "wouldn't" on a Spanish keyboard.

So, the problem seems to be sorted in the English keyboard but, when I use the Spanish keyboard it's not registering correctly. Am I correct in assuming that I can switch between keyboards instantaneously by just selecting the appropriate keyboard?

And, is there a layout for the Spanish keyboard so I know where all the punctuation marks etc., are? Because, obviously, the whole idea of having the Spanish keyboard is so that I don't have to type Alt + 0241 to get the n with the tilde (as one of 9 examples).
