    Blue Swirling Circle

I have been having an issue with the "spinning blue circle" but it only seems to appear when I'm commenting on an MSN article. If I am in the middle of a sentence and the circle appears I am unable to type until the circle stops. I have also noticed that
I don't have this problem when I switch from Edge to Internet Explorer, so it would appear that the problem is with Microsoft Edge.

  3. Spinning Blue Circle while typing an e-mail in yahoo mail

I just got a new HP laptop with Windows 10. I am trying to type an e-mail in yahoo mail and every few words a spinning blue circle appears, the typing stops and I have to click at the end of the last word to resume. This is driving me insane. What is
    going on?

Hi there, dearelliot. Welcome to the forum.

I'll assume it's Windows 10 64 bit? A dell tower or laptop? Please post here or fill out your system specs so to help you better.

Which program are you using when typing? Office? Outlook?

A spinning circle means the system is busy enough so to use up the resources. You may want to keep Task Manager open to see what it's doing while this occurrence happens. How often does it happen?

  6. Yes win 10 and 64bit, Tower, and I'm talking about writing long e mails on yahoo, or responding to news etc ...I think I don't know enough to even ask decent questions..Im 82 and I'm slowing down..not that I was ever very good at working a PC. So I may just have to live with these issues . I don't really know what a task manager is. But thank you ..

Ok. How old is your PC?

To open Task Manager > Windows Key + X or right click Start Flag > Opens power user menu > Choose Task Manager > There will be a button on the bottom "More details". It should already be on processes tab. How much CPU, Memory, and Disk is it using. It will fluctuate with percentages.

    @dearelliot

I suspect every now and then it's pagefile.sys that's crippling your system. Also called thrashing:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrash...ter_science%29

You may want to look through this tutorial list, especially #16. Optimize Performance of Windows 10

You may want to increase memory with more memory strips. This depends on whether your computer is expandable that way. Below is just one source for them. You may also want to check out Dell's site for guidance also.

You mean just a blue circle in the middle of completely blank screen? What is the color of the blank screen then: all black, all white, something else?

  11. It seems to have subsided for now, it comes and goes...what I'm trying to explain is when typing, my keyboard stops working, nothing I do ...space type back , nothing works the screen is frozen../what I have typed is there but nothing I do has any effect.. And there is a small blue circle..I liken it to the "beachball" on Macmini..and while the blue circle is there on screen, Its frozen..then after a while it (the blue circle) disappears and I'm back able to use the keyboard.. I think of the blue circle as though the PC is cooking, working on its own trying to gather its thoughts so as to be able to continue Like "WAIT I'm overloaded..WAIT I'm trying to catch up." ..Sorry guys I'm not very good at this.

That's ok, dearelliot. None of us here are rocket scientists that I know of.

It is in fact the blue spinning "busy donut". You described what it's doing very well.

If you want, please push the Windows key + I and select System, then About to get to the screen below. Would you please report what the Processor and the RAM are? We'd get better insight in this.

Thank you for responding, I will:
Processor AMD A6 7310 APU AMD Radeon R4 Graphics 2.00GHZ
    Ram: 6.00 GHZ 4.94 useable
Also I sometimes think when I have my PC on and walk away for an hour comeback etc, or have been using pc quite a bit, it seems as though it acts as though its memory is so full of junk it just cant function..like its all stressed out. With my last pc I would shut it down to give it a rest.. I know this doesn't sound very technical.

You're welcome. You are explaining things quite well. I think you meant to use Gigabytes (GB) for RAM, which is the amount of bytes RAM can hold. Gigahertz (GHZ) is the speed at which the central processing unit (CPU) works.

6 GBs of RAM should be quite sufficient for what you do. "4.94 useable" is what's stumping me. It's a 64 bit system so it should use all of RAM if need be. I'm wondering if there's a RAM strip that's gone bad.

Here's a simple diagnostic tool to use to test at different levels: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...spotlight.aspx

Here's a more extensive test recommended by this forum where one needs a USB stick (thumb) drive to diagnose at different levels: MemTest86+ - Test RAM

And again, you may want to refer to the Dell support site that may have diagnostic tools: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...02906856251662

Found this via a search on that page of your model: Dell Search

Be careful and back up all your important files on a different drive (preferably external) in case anything goes wrong. As you may know, that should be performed on a regular basis.
