Windows 10: UAC pops up on a non admin profile.

My son and I share a laptop. I installed an application on his profile for him, and now it asks for my admin password every time he wants to run it. This is the only application that does this. I thought I set permissions for it to stop doing that, but no luck. How can I get it so it doesn't prompt UAC password? I'd like to keep his profile locked down so that he still cannot install applications without consent. Thanks.

Disable UAC for non admin on domain

I have a Windows 11 computer. UAC doesn't allow me to lower the UAC settings for a non admin user on this computer. It keeps telling me to log in to an administrator account to do so but when I log into that administrator account it doesn't change it for the non admin user. I have tried with domain admin account and the local admin account and UAC is still active.

 

Program was able to install on non-admin account without UAC prompt, why?

So this might be a misunderstanding of what the UAC does, but on my non-admin account I was able to install the program Discord without an UAC prompt. It did not install into Program Files or Program Files(x86) but instead to C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\,
but it still appears in the list of Programs and Features. This seems like odd behavior if the UAC can be avoided by changing the install location; is there some restrictions on what programs can do if they are not installed into Program Files or Program Files(x86)?

I suggest you to check if the issue persists in the Built-in Administrator account
(hidden administrator account). To enable the account, follow the steps below:

• Right Click on Start and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
• Accept the UAC prompt if required.
• Type “net user administrator /active:yes” (without quotes).

Once you have enabled the account, you will see it listed in the user accounts control panel applet. Login to the account and check for status.

To disable the built-in Administrator account, follow the steps provided above and in step 3 type the command line provided below:

“net user administrator /active:yes” (without quotes).
