  2. What is the difference between the UAC Prompt for Credentials on the Secure Desktop vs the default mode of simply Prompt for Credentials?

I have my UAC settings set to all the way High in the User Control Panel

    :)

How do I disable or remove the exchange active sync policies broker icon that keeps on appearing on my computer

    Hi Jose,

It seems that the User Account Control (UAC) has been enabled that’s why you’re getting the
Exchange active sync policies broker icon.
UAC is a fundamental component of Microsoft's overall security vision. We suggest that you try to disable the UAC prompts by following the steps below and see if it helps.

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Click User Accounts, then select Change User Account Control settings.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt.
    • Drag the box from Always Notify to Never Notify and click on
      OK.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt (if asked again).

Feel free to ask back any question and let us know how it goes.

Not able to delete a file without permissions

    Hi Robert,

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions:

    • Are you using Local Account or a Microsoft Account?
    • Are you logging in as Administrator?

I suggest you to temporarily disable UAC prompts, follow the steps provided below and check:

    • In the search bar, type Control Panel and press Enter.
    • Click on User Accounts and again click on User Accounts.
    • Click on Change User account control settings.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt.
    • Drag the box from Always Notify to Never Notify and click on OK.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt (if asked again).

Important: Turning off UAC reduces the security of your computer and may expose you to increased risk from malicious software. We do not recommend leaving UAC disabled.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

The default setting uses the Secure desktop. It is the setting below that that avoids it.

During Windows Vista/7 development, MS reported that malware could not penetrate onto the secure desktop in order to bypass approval by the user.

I have looked through some old notes and cannot find a link to the original MS document [which might not be available any more anyway]. If I stumble across it I'll add a link to it in a fresh post for you.
