  1. UAC Prompt when ejecting a USB drive remotely RDP

Subject: Unable to eject USB drive over RDPBody:I am currently experiencing an issue where I am unable to eject a USB drive over an RDP connection to a customer's machine. When I attempt to do so, I am prompted for a UAC prompt. This is not possible as either an admin or user without UAC. I have already checked GPO, user permissions, and general permissions. I am now out of ideas on how to resolve this issue.Additional information:The machine is running Windows 10 Pro.The RDP connection is using the default settings.***** moved from german to english Community *****

  3. Removing a USB drive without 'ejecting' first

    Hello,

Normally I eject a USB drive within Windows 10 before unplugging the hardware. I once understood garbage can be left behind when not ejecting first.

Sometimes ejecting don't work because Windows says it's in use (for no reason according to me). In those cases I shut down Windows or I unplug the USB drive without ejecting first.

    • Is this garbage being left behind in Windows or on the USB drive?
    • How can I remove this garbage afterwards?
    Thanks in advance

UAC Prompt when ejecting a USB drive remotely RDP

Eject a USB device remotely with standard non-admin account

I have a desk and a table around a corner with my Windows 10 and Windows 7 computers on them. The two towers are practically right next to each other, but they keyboards, mice, and monitors are farther apart.

I needed to make three identical USB sticks with almost 30gb of data, so I stuck two of them into my Windows 10 computer's USB 3 ports, started the copy process, and then swiveled my chair over to the Windows 7 computer to do something else. I have two monitors
on that, and used the second monitor to RDP into the Win10 computer.

When the copy process finished, I tried to eject using the remote connection since I could easily reach the tower but not the other keyboard, but it asked me for an admin password via UAC. I've never needed the password to eject USB sticks before.

I'm using Windows 10 pro, how do I give my standard user account the ability to eject remotely? It's not uncommon for me to start sometime time consuming or a major download on the Windows computer
and do something else on an older computer, sometimes even from my Windows98SE/XP dual boot computer if I feel like playing some old games that don't work on Windows 10 (or even 7) and remote in to check the progress since I'm too lazy to scoot over and wake
up the screen on the new computer.
