    UEFI or MBR ?


    I 'm making a bootable usb flash drive with Rufus to install Windows 10 as a dual boot with Windows 8.1. When I installed my new video card I had to disable safe boot and enable legacy support in the bios. When I make the bootable flash drive should I choose UEFI or MBR?

    Can't install Windows 10 as disk isn't GPT

    The disk type wasn't the direct cause, apparently the MBR disk didn't support UEFI firmware. To get it to support UEFI I had to change from MBR to GPT

    FAT_FILE_SYSTEM when booting in to a USB

    I have tried to export it using a MBR partition for BIOS or UEFI-CSM, MBR partition for UEFI and GPT partition for UEFI using a 4GB flash drive, and none of the attempts worked. I made sure that the file system was set to FAT32. I left the cluster size
    as the default.

    UEFI or MBR ?

    UEFI is what I used, worked a treat, only problem I had was with the video card installation, had to install 8.1 drivers and manually install it, other than that, worked perfectly using rufus and USB UEFI boot

    I got Windows 10 installed as a dual boot with Windows 8.1 . I still have to see if Windows 8.1 will boot without any problems. Pale Moon seems to be running OK so far. I'm going to install Thunderbird and call it a night.
