Windows 10: UEFI pxe boot problem with WDS

Hello all,Recently, we purchased gigabyte H510M S2P motherboards and I could not enable legacybios mode to install windows from WDS server. When i enable CSM on mitherboard to boot with bios it hangs on bios boot screen, so I enabled network stack to be able to boot from uefi mode. After enabling uefi , it does not get ip from dhcp and nothing happens. Our DHCP is cisco switch 3750 on each Vlan on different subnet and our wds and clients are on same vlan. Please help to be able to install in uefi mode . Thanks.

PXE Boot configuration in WDS

I would like to set up some computers as "Thin Clients" in that when they boot up they PXE boot to a VM that is set up in Kiosk mode. Is it possible to change the WDS settings to point the PXE booting computers to a VM instead of WDS/MDT?

 

UEFI Boot Order: OS Installation through PXE

I have query regarding UEFI boot order change after OS installation. I want to know whether the result is expected or not.

I am trying to install OS through PXE by following the below procedure:

1. In BIOS setup page, changed the UEFI boot order and set the network boot as first boot option.

2. After saving the settings and reboot, booted to PXE as it is set as first boot option.

3. Installed windows 10 OS through PXE.

4. After successful installation and rebooted from windows, the boot order changed automatically and set the first boot option as windows boot manager.

I want to know whether Windows 10 installation changes the UEFI boot order and is this the expected behavior?

 

Struggling with WDS and UEFI/BIOS Bootissue

Scenario: We have following setup.

• Windows 2008 R2 - Active Directory Server with DHCP/DNS Roles (SRV01)
  
• Windows 2016 x64 STD GUI - WSUS (SRV02) for deployment of windows updates to clients
  
• Windows 2016 x64 STD GUI - WDS (SRV03) with W2016 BOOT image, it also contains - Windows 7/10 images for network base windows installation
  
• We have 150 users with Windows 7 & 10 installed on different new / old hardware.
  

Problem:

We use WDS to deploy windows over the network.

• on Legacy BIOS users, when I dont use DCHP option 67, normal bios users can boot fine, but UEFI users get error

PXE-E16: No Offer received.

• on UEFI enabled users, When I enable DHCP Option 67 & point to file boot\x64\wdsmgfw.efi, then UEFI users can boot fine, but BIOS users gets error.
  

PXE--E79: NBP is too big to fit in free base memory

IS there any way both users can boot fine without adding/removal of option 67 ?
