Windows 10: Umm what happened? My dads computer randomly did this and I haven’t really done anything...

Notifocation of W-10 update genuine? Freezes computer, can"t verify.

Can you or anyone suggest a way to remove the virus? Haven;t been able to enter safe mode. I did trya windows repair program called system restore, which failed at two restore points.

 

BSOD DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE randomly after cold boot/sleep

For the past month I have been getting random BSOD's all with driver power state failure. They happen randomly, usually within the first 5-10 minutes of cold booting or waking my computer. Steps I have taken to attempt to fix the problem:

1. Reinstalled GPU drivers/ tried old drivers
2. Fresh installed Windows 1803, still happened, then fresh installed 1709
3. Disabled Fast Boot

None of these things fixed the issue, any help would be much appreciated at pinpointing the issue. Thanks

EDIT: Found a computer and picked it up today thanks to Kantastic! *Smile


I'm visiting my family in Florida in the next few weeks and would love to surprise my step-Dad with a new computer. What he has right now is very old and outdated (think 64MB of DDR memory)! *Eek!

My step-Dad is a musician and I'd like to find him a computer for music recording and editing.

The specs aren't set in stone, but ideally I think I'd like to get him a computer with the following:
- Newer dual/quad core CPU
- 500GB HDD
- 4GB RAM (DDR3 if possible)
- CD/DVD Burner

This is going to be a gift so I'd like to try to keep the price down if possible.

All of his peripherals are outdated as well so if you could spare an extra keyboard, mouse, etc. that would be much appreciated but of course not required.

Let me know what you guys have, please help me help him out - he's a really good guy. *Smile
