  1. Unable to Access (D:): Drive Since October/November Update 2019

    Hi everyone!

Recently I updated my laptop to the latest version of windows, however I have run into a few issues since the update.

I discovered the issues while trying to open and run a game through steam and I found that nothing was working due to the location I had saved it to

    1. The overall speed of the device has declined heavily causing a restart of the PC to take up to 2 hours. Prior to the update it would take a maximum of 2 minutes.

    2. When booting up it comes up with "Scanning and repairing drive (DUnable to Access (D:): Drive Since October/November Update 2019 :): 100% complete". However when I go into my computer I cannot access the drive anymore. I can't remember what it was labelled as prior to the update but now it shows up as local disk and when I try to open it my computer crashes and I have to restart windows. Prior to the update I was able to access it.

    3. I cannot access my disk management program, it just comes up blank with no content available to interact with. Not sure if it would have opened up properly prior to the update as I never needed to use it.

    4. I cannot roll back to the previous software through the laptop settings

    5. I cannot reset my laptop. I have files and personal data I wouldn't miss if I had to format it, I would just prefer to avoid that if I can.

The issues have all just stacked up since I updated and it's super frustrating that I can't use half of the content on my PC due to it being saved to the (DUnable to Access (D:): Drive Since October/November Update 2019 :): Drive which I can no longer access.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would really appreciate any kind of help and support on this because I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to be working for me. Not keen on spending money on a new laptop either.

    :)

    Unable to access Drives

    Hi Suneel,

One of the reasons why you're unable to access your hard disk or an external hard drive is that these drives have been corrupted. For us to provide an accurate resolution, kindly elaborate the issue by answering the questions listed below:

    • Are you trying to access external hard drives or just partitioned drives on your PC?
    • Were there any changes on your PC before this happened like software or updates installed?

Just to make sure, kindly verify if your hard drive is reflected in your Device Manager. Kindly follow the steps listed below to check it:

    • Press the Start button.
    • Type Device Manager.
    • Under Disk drives, kindly check if there's an error on the hard drive listed.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

    D drive

    Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    • Type-in the following command:

      attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
    • Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

    • Click on the File Explorer.
    • Select This PC.
    • Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
    • Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Let us know how it goes so that we can further assist you.
