Unable to Access Shared Files on Local Network after Windows Update

After a recent Windows update, I have been experiencing difficulties accessing shared files on my local network. Prior to the update, everything was working smoothly. However, since the update, attempts to connect to shared folders result in an error message, and I'm unable to browse or retrieve files from other computers on the network.Error Message: "The specified network name is no longer available."Steps Taken to Resolve the Issue:Checked network connections and verified that all devices are connected to the same network.Confirmed that sharing is still enabled on the folders I am trying to

Unable to access shared folder from specific computer on local network

I have an issue with accessing the shared folders on my Desktop computer from my Laptop A on same network.

Trying to access my computer with IP address from file explorer with \\<desktop_computer_ip_here> results in following error:

Unable to Access Shared Files on Local Network after Windows Update 317717d1612557254t-unable-access-shared-folder-specific-computer-local-network-error.png

This is strange because I am able to access shared folders from my Laptop B and also I am able to access the share from SMB client on Android. Also, Desktop computer is pingable from Laptop A.

    To summarise:
Desktop computer and Laptop A are both on the same network.
I am able to ping my desktop computer from Laptop A.
I am able to access shared folders from Laptop B without any issues.
I am able to access shared folders from SMB client on my Android phone without any issues.

Desktop computer and both laptops have Windows 10 version 1909 installed.

Strange thing happens if select "Turn on password protected sharing" option in "Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings" menu then this login form shows up:

Unable to Access Shared Files on Local Network after Windows Update 317716d1612559394t-unable-access-shared-folder-specific-computer-local-network-form.png

But trying to log in with my account results in invalid credentials. (My Desktop Computer does not require password so trying to log in without password results in invalid credentials).

I tried googling error code in first picture but no success in resolving issues. Several solutions on internet suggested installing SMB 1.0 client but I can't see how this is an issue since all computers run Windows 10.
    What could be an issue?

Resolved the issue by enabling insecure guest logons in Group Policy Editor.

    Unable to share network computers

    Blake,

    I disagree with Clint.

Here is my full list of network setting up steps. It is what I do to set up my own networks.

1 Set the same WorkGroup name on each computer - Change Workgroup - TenForumsTutorials

2 Create a local Admin account on each computer with both the same username and the same password.
    - This will be used to authorise mutual network access upon the first connection to it but does not restrict which user accounts can subsequently be used when accessing the network.Add Local Account - TenForumsTutorials
Change Account Type - TenForumsTutorials- This can actually be an MSAccount but a local one is normally less prone to errors.
    - Anyway, it's always a good idea to have a spare, password-protected local Admin account as a hedge against possible user profile corruption in the future.

3 Set up all Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Advanced sharing settings - includingTurn On Network Discovery - TenForumsTutorials
Turn On File and Printer Sharing - TenForumsTutorials
Turn On Password Protected Sharing - TenForumsTutorials - this step is what deals with the issue that Clint raised.
4 Share the desired folders - Share Files and Folders Over a Network - TenForumsTutorials In brief,- In File explorer, right-click on the folder, Properties, Sharing tab, Advanced sharing
    - Set the checkbox for Share this folder
    - Give it a Share name
    - Click on Permissions,
    - Everyone - Set Full control, Change or Read as desired
5 If a network includes earlier Windows versions, non-Windows computers or a network drive connected to the router then I understand SMB1 needs to be set up but this is not a topic I know about - Enable SMB1 File Sharing Protocol - TenForumsTutorials

6 Connect each computer to the router's network and set it up as a Private network - Set Network Location to Private - TenForumsTutorials- This connection step assumes use of Windows defender. If you use different security software then you should check if it requires any additional steps, such as manually approving use of specific network adapters, but I imagine they are all pretty decently automated these days and would at least tell you if they were rejecting a network / network adapter.
    7 Access the shared drives both ways between each pair of computers & provide network credentials- The first time you do this you will need to enter the common local Admin account username and common password {the one set up on each computer at step 2 above}
    - Set the Remember my credentials checkbox so that you are never required to do this again
Unable to Access Shared Files on Local Network after Windows Update 9198d1601177644-share-files-folders-over-network-windows-10-a-network-credentials-called-cleaned.png

    - You will be able to access the shared drives using all other user accounts not just the Admin account used to set it all up.

windows 10 loosing local network access

    Hi,

Well, frequently, I'm unable to access folders on my laptop (or desktop from laptop).
Then I run network troubleshooting and windows says me the same thing again: one or more network protocols are not installed and necessary for connectivity. Then I accept the correction and I can access my network until the next time it will fail and will say me the same thing. One day, perhaps 3 if I am lucky.
IT'S MASSIVELY BORING !! *Smile Unable to Access Shared Files on Local Network after Windows Update :)

    Any clue ?
