Windows 10: Unable to activate with old laptop license

I recently downgraded from Win 10 Education to Win 10 Home and want to use an old laptop Win 8/10 key on my new pc build. I got the key ending in 8HVX7 and it is not letting me activate. It was a retail digital key. Please help.

Hello guys

I have a laptop where I've been using windows 10, but then I moved my whole disk drive to new ssd and started using desktop with powerful pcie card to be albe to play games.

But I am unable to move my license to desktop pc.

Yes, my license is a retail one. I've tried to remove license using special command through powershell (being signed in as admin). My desktop pc is in a list of devices in my microsoft account. I've removed old device - laptop and now there's only one device
and I want to activate license there. What could you suggest ?

Although bought as Windows 7, I am trying to activate its license so that I can upgrade to Windows 10 once activated.

However, I am unable to activate the license on my laptop.

Getting the message with error code: Ox80072F8f.

Help appreciated.
