Windows 10: Unable to add 2nd drive to Win10 Pro 1903

Discus and support Unable to add 2nd drive to Win10 Pro 1903 in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; I have a brand-new Dell which came with Win10 Pro Version 1903 installed on a 480 mb SSD.     Unable to add 2nd drive to Win10 Pro 1903


    I have a brand-new Dell which came with Win10 Pro Version 1903 installed on a 480 mb SSD.


    That's not a lot of storage, so I went to add a 2nd drive. There is only 1 channel on the 1st ATA so it needs to go to the 2nd ATA.


    Windows does not detect the drive or the 2nd ATA. It shows up in the BIOS and as a boot option.


    My Google searches show that


    a) I should run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

    b) The Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter has been removed


    I have tried everything that Bing and Google have come up with, with no answers except many "Me too!".


    How do I force Win 10 to detect the drive?

    How to view 2nd drive?


    Nope, not listed.

    About half an hour ago I checked to see whether it's faulty, so ran it as a primary drive in AHCI mode. Win10 installed perfectly, in just a few minutes. So drive is fine.

    Creating recovery drive for win10 pro

    I am unable to create the recovery drive after upgrading to win10 Pro.

    it gives a message We can't create the recovery drive

    A problem occured while creating the recovery drive.

    but win8.1 pro recovery drive is existing in my laptop.

    but the recovery date is old, created previously when installing win8.1 Pro.

    Any solution to create recovery for Win10 Pro.

    2nd Drive Files not Showing in Quick search

    Hi all,

    Background: I'm running Windows 10, anniversary update; with two physical drives, each also shown as a logical volume (C and D).

    Issue: When searching from the Start menu, files on my C drive show up, however the ones on D do not.

    Troubleshooting I have done so far:

    • Verify that the 2nd Drive (D) has indexing enabled
    • Verify that the folders on the drive also have indexing enabled
    • Rebuild index
    • The files DO appear when searching the 2nd drive via Windows Explorer, but NOT through the start search
    Is this a known issue, and what steps can I take to resolve this?
