Windows 10: Unable to add .WAV files to music library in Media Player new

I am trying to add .WAV files to my music library in Media Player not the old one from the windows XP days, the one that came with Windows 10 and can be found in the Windows app store. When prompted with the "Add Folder" button when the app says it cannot find any music. It can find the .mp3 files in the music folder. I confirmed the .WAV files are present, and when clicking on the individual files, Media Player will play them without an issue. I've tried reinstalling the app and deleted all previous data associated with it, however I cannot add my music to the music library. I must manually

I would suggest you to check the ‘Windows Media Player’ settings from the steps below.

1. Open the ‘Windows Media Player’, in the player ‘Library’, click on ‘Organize’.
   
2. Select ‘Options’, this will open the ‘Options’ window for the ‘Windows Media Player’.
   
3. Click on the ‘Library’ tab, please confirm if the ‘Retrieve additional information from the Internet’ is checked, check the options ‘Rename music files using rip music settings’ and ‘Rearrange music in rip
   music folder, using rip music settings’ under ‘Automatic media information updates for files’. Click on ‘Apply’.
   
4. Click on the ‘Player’ tab and check the option ‘Connect to the Internet’. Click on apply.
   
5. Restart the ‘Windows Media Player’ and check if it works out for you.

Windows Media Player WAV Files

Hi Michele, Microsoft are phasing out Windows Media Player and replacing it with Groove Music . . .

Try opening the WAV files in Groove Music, if you still cannot play these files, download VLC player which is probably the best free 3rd party media player available for Windows:

Can not add Music album from Music library of computer to Media Player files

I have a few Albums stored in my Computers Music Library. I want to copy one particular album (the album has about 7 files - i.e. 7 music tracks) to
Windows Media Player album Library. When I right click on the album in the Computer's music library, one of the options is to
PLAY with windows media player - but another option is to
ADD to Windows Media Player List......but when I choose the later (ADD to list) all that happens is that the album starts to
play - but does not get added to the Media Player album list. How do I overcome this problem. I am running Windows 7.
