Windows 10: Unable to boot into Windows after insert a new Hard Drive

Because of the problems occurring with my laptop I have to load windows 10 on a new ssd and then install it in my laptop. I have been through it with this computer and have been told by HP to throw it away. I can't bring myself to dump that much money, so if I do this, how do I set up the partitions on the new ssd. The computer has a failed hard drive in it and the bios will not switch from internal to usb. After weeks of failed tech support, this is the only solution I could come up with and would like to try it before I add to the nearest landfill. Diagnostics show that the only part not wor

Hard drive/ OS issue

• unhooked HDD
• restarted
• yay !!
• reconnected HDD
• restarted
• yay !!

Have a similiar situation using a DiamondMax Plus 8, 20GB Mfg Date 4/15/03. Drive used as a second system drive. Drive is recognized in boot menu but not in drive list. Drive is always connected. Computer started locking up for several seconds at a time. Chkdsk on drives and couldn't find that drive. Removed drive from bay to make sure connections were ok and heard the beeping. Shutdown and restart and never got to windows screen. Restarted several times then saw drive in boot menu and Windows loaded but Maxtor not in drive menu. When recognized in boot menu, computer will start but beeps and is not found.

Tried kicking it real hard but no improvement. Any suggestions?

I suggest you check if you are able to boot into Windows Recovery Environment using installation media. Follow the steps provided below and check.

• • Insert the installation USB and boot Windows 10 from it.
  • In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the ‘language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.
  • Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’.

Check if you are able to boot to this window. If you are unable to boot to this window, I suggest you to contact the manufacturer and check.
