Unable to boot when unplugging/plugging device

    Hello guys,

I just made my own PC yesterday, and I have a problem related to windows boot.

Windows seems to work properly but when I shut down the PC, plug/unplug something, my computer cannot boot anymore (And from this moment, even if I unplug the device that made boot crash, it will still crash). I don't have any error message, I just cannot see anything and the PC does do anything (Black screen but not totally (not as if the screen was shut down)).

I find a way to fix it using troubleshooting with my booting usb key, using command prompt and Bootrec /rebuildbcd Bootrex /fixboot Bootrec /fixmbr Then I shut down the PC and it works as expected, until I plug/unplug something.

It will not crash if, while turned down, I unplug and replug at the same position, but if, for example, I switch my 2 screens hdmi ports, it will crash (they where plugged before, but not on the same port).

It's probably related to boot priority or something, the PC maybe try to boot on plugged usb key, but I don't understand why it would crash if I unplug an hdmi screen or if I unplug an usb key already there, or my keyboard for example...

Do you guys have any ideas where this could come from ?

I'm using windows 10 Home, motherboard is ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (I updated the bios to latest version). GPU is amd Radeon Rx 5600 TX BE (I don't think it comes from this but in case this could be useful).

    Thank you guys!

Windows update failed and unable to boot

    Hi Chrissy,

To assist you better help us with the information below.

    • Have you made any recent software/hardware changes to the computer?
    • Do you get any error message or code when trying to boot into the computer?
When installing updates it puts message “Do not shut down your machine”, if you unplug the AC adapter or turn off the computer Chances are:

    • Windows resuming the installation process next time you shutdown.
    • A non-vital program file becomes corrupted and causes some feature of the OS to become unusable and crash.
As an initial step I would suggest you to unplug all external devices if connected and then try to boot the computer by plugging in the AC adapter and check if you are able to boot the computer.

If the computer boots make sure all the updates are installed and then you can login to user Interface.

If you still not able to unable to get the in Windows Bootable environment I Would suggest you contact your manufacturer.

Get back to us if your require more help on this query.

    Thank you.

Unable to boot when unplugging/plugging device

Extremely bizarre issue where headphones don't work after being unplugged and plugged back in

I was going through your suggestions, until I got to this part. When I got to step 16 on that list (create a new admin user account and see if the problem persists in that account), I tried that suggestion and created a test account. At first, when I plugged
in my headphones they weren't working (same as my original problem). But then when I unplugged them a Windows notification message popped up in the bottom right, saying something along the lines of "an audio device was disconnected". I plugged my headphones
back in and got the same kind of windows popup asking what type of device I just plugged in, and I selected the headphone option. After that, the headphones worked fine even when unplugged and plugged back in. Unfortunately, they are only working fine in that
alternate user account, and not in my normal one.

So I guess that means that the problem lies somewhere in my account settings, but how on earth do I fix it?
