  1. Unable to boot without the usb recovery media after re-installation(s)

My mother computer had a bsod at boot, too fast for see anything before it reboots.

After attempting some rescue options ( automatic boot fix tool, recovery points) I took the reinstallation road.

I create a recovery media on usb ( with another computer) plugged it and it booted on it, like a normal Windows. So I reinstalled from it, keeping files and programs, and after reinstalling it, and first reboot after removing the recovery media, it did the bsod again.

I did another installation this time only option available was one without keeping anything, and same deal, unable to boot with the recovery media, or bsod !

I did a chkdsk, and it is fine ( it is a ssd)

I found out it was not really install but upgrades, in the regedit tool.

Does anybody have a clue ?

And how can I reinstall for real windows 10, you know like erasing everything and rewriting it.

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

    1. Windows logo on a black screen
    2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
    3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
    4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
    5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.

Windows 10 install stopped on restart. Now PC won't boot

    Hi Sam,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience that you are unable to upgrade to Windows 10, which hangs and prompts an error 0xc000000d. We will help you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to disconnect all the unnecessary external devices connected to the computer (except the mouse, keyboard and the recovery media) and check.

If you doesn't have a recovery media then you can create USB recovery drive from a working Windows 8 computer from the following link or contact your computer manufacturer for the recovery disc.

    Create a USB recovery drive:

    • Click on Troubleshoot and then select Advanced Options.
    • Click on Command prompt and type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
    • Bootrec /fixmbr
    • Bootrec /fixboot
    • Bootrec /rebuildbcd
    5. Restart the computer

    6. Check if the issue persists.

I suggest you to install Windows 10 using the media creation tool and check if it helps:
