Unable to cast wirelessly to my other Windows PC running the Wireless Display app

I have a new Surface Pro running Windows 11 and an old Surface Pro running Windows 10.The issue is that I could not project the display wirelessly from the new Surface Pro to the old one running the Wireless Display app. When I try to cast wirelessly to the old Surface Pro, its name does not appear as an available display. However, I could cast wirelessly from the new Surface Pro to a TV.Additional tests performed are as follows. When trying to cast wirelessly to another PC running Windows 11, its name also does not appear as an available display.I can cast wirelessly from my Android device

    :)

  2. Cast windows desktop to a projector wirelessly through home network

My projector has a wireless connection to the home network. Is there some way of sending the windows desktop to the projector? The PC is not a laptop! Projector advertises can connect a phone wirelessly thru the network. It is nothing I have attempted to do yet. Right now I use a firestick or an HDMI switch and a cable and bypass the windows 10 pc, but would be nice to just not have the HDMI cable snaking along the floor. There does exist HDMI wireless senders and receivers, but they are very pricey. - - - Updated - - - How to Wirelessly Mirror Windows to a Projector? Did find the above and perhaps using google chrome to cast itself to the projector, does EDGE do cast like Chrome? For a non mira cast projector "Unlike Apple AirPlay, Google Cast also works in the Windows environment, although differently from Miracast. For many people who are more comfortable with Android-based apps, Google Cast may be a very appealing choice. However, Google Cast requires using Google Chrome, which is not compatible with Wi-Fi Direct. So, you can’t simply press Windows + K/Windows +P to create a direct connection between your laptop (or tablet) and a smart projector. What you can do is open up Chrome, then click the three-dot icon in the top right corner of the screen. Look down and you’ll see the “Cast…” prompt. Click on it and you’ll see the BenQ EH620 listed as a found device. Click on it to begin the mirroring process. Unlike Miracast, Google Cast requires external Wi-Fi so both your source device and the smart projector you’re connecting to need to be on the same wireless network, or SSID. We have more information regarding this if you’re interested." - - - Updated - - - I installed Miracast on the android phone, and phone connects wirelessly to the projector. Does windows do miracast? - - - Updated - - - So far not finding much, but the DXDIAG report says this PC supports Miracast.

  3. about cast a device to windows 10

On your Android phone, go to Settings > Display > Cast or just search Cast or Screen Mirroring in the search icon in Settings. Check box and activate the Enable wireless display option. Now, you should see your computer appear in the list if you have the
Connect app open. Tap on your computer name and it will instantly start projecting.

If the Connect application is showing the message as "Desktop is ready to connect wirelessly", then the issue might be with your mobile phone, so I suggest you to cast with a different mobile phone, which supports Screen Mirroring and check if you are able
to cast it to your computer.

  4. Unable to cast wirelessly to my other Windows PC running the Wireless Display app

Cast to PC no longer working

Been using Windows 11 for a while now, with automatic updates enabled, wirelessly casting from my android to my pc. Even when neither was connected to a WiFi network, casting always worked, the only thing that would disrupt the connection was using a VPN on the phone, but even then my phone would still be able to find the pc, though unable to connect

. A couple of months ago, I think around the time the Connect app renamed to Wireless Display, my phone was now only able to find the pc for casting when Wireless Display was open, where before that hadn't been necessary, a minor inconvenience but at least it still worked.

Now, whether Wireless Display is open or not, my phone can't find the pc anymore. If I click the Cast button in the Action Center I get a message saying my device doesn't support Miracast, when I know that it does, because I've been using it for over a year. Is this gradual loss of functionality something to do with the Windows updates? Is there a fix or I'm just going to have to accept that that's the end of it?
