Windows 10: Unable to change app location

Hi guys,

I have 3 drives in my PC, C: D: and F:. C is for Windows and Ubuntu, D: is for photos, videos, TV etc, and F: is for games. I recently had to do a clean install of Windows and as such, my files on C: are "new" and F: are "old". Because of that, I'm having a conflict with setting F: to my app location (for Xbox Game Pass).

I can't set the directory from here, it says I need to delete the existing apps but then errors out (image below).I've also messed with the permissions F:\WindowsApps\ itself but I can't delete it from file explorer, either (I need to give myself permissions, also below)

Any ideas on what to do?

Unable to turn on Location in Windows 10

Hello,

We regret the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

Before we proceed further, let us know a few more details on the below questions.

• 
  Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue? Is it an abrupt issue?
  
• 
  Do have any System Restore point set in Windows prior to the issue?
  
• 
  Did you check if the same issue occurs when you log in to Windows using a different Local Administrator user account?
  

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to follow the steps to try and fix the issue:

Step 1:

Follow the steps to change the region:

a) Type “Region” on the Search and click on
Change your country or region option from the search results.

b) Now choose the location from the drop down menu to change the region. (As per your location)

Move to the next step.

Step 2:

I would suggest you to turn On Windows location platform on the computer and check if it helps.

You can follow the steps:

a) Type
location on the Search.

b) Click on
Change Location settings.

c) Check the box which states “Turn ON Windows location platform” and “Help improve Windows Location services”.

e) Click on Apply.

Proceed to the next step.

Step 3:

If you are trying to use location settings for an app, I would suggest you to turn ON the settings to allow apps to use the location on the computer.

Follow the steps:

a) Type
location on the Search.

b) Click on
Location privacy settings.

c) Move the slider towards the right to turn ON settings for ‘Let Windows apps use my location’.

Restart the computer once after making the changes.

Unable to change install location of apps for the store.

I understand your concern about changing the downloaded files location, we will help you with this issue.

Steps to change location for downloaded files:

• Press Windows key form the keyboard, type Settings
  and select Settings.
• Click on System, click on Storage from the left pane, choose appropriate location in
  New apps will save to under Save locations.

Unable to change default app by protocol or filetype.

Hi, I don't have Acrobat installed. With Sumatra as my default pdf reader, that hyperlink to a pdf docoument opens in.. yes.. Sumatra. Changing to Edge:




the hyperlink opens in... yes.. Edge.

If, as seems the case, Bluebeam is correctly associated with pdf files, I can't say why the hyperlink fails. Your guess about the protocol may be right- I don't know. If you could make any change to that to test that theory, as you suggest, that would help.

If you wish to view the relevant registry key, a convenient way to get there is via free Filetypesman - a rt click option.
