Unable to change default location for new content

I am unable to change the default location for new content from the system default C Drive to the D Drive. I see the dropdown correctly and I am able to choose the D Drive but when I click on Apply, it keeps loading and never really changes.

I am doing this as I have MSFS2020 installed on my D drive and for some reason, when I started my PC today, MSFS2020 shows an error
"Microsoft Flight Simulator can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected."

When I go to the store to fix this, it wants me to download the entire 100+ GB game again and only gives an option to install in the C Drive which does not have sufficient space. Please help me get the D Drive back to being accessible by the Microsoft Store and MSFS2020.

    :)

  4. Unable to change default location for new content

Change where new content is saved.

    Hello Martin,

We apologize for the late reply.

Windows 10 lets you easily change the default Save location for Documents, Music, Picture and Video files. For steps on how to organize your preferred setting, follow these steps:

    • Open Start Menu.
    • Click Settings, then System settings.
    • Click on Storage in the left pane.
    • Scroll down a bit and find Save locations.
    • There you will see New documents will save to setting and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos.
    • Select the location from the drop-down menu.

For Windows 10 Creators Update v1703, you need to navigate as follows:

    Settings > System > Storage
    > Change where new content is saved.

Tip: If you are suffering from the low space issues after upgrading, you can use these technique to move Documents and other personal folders from the default system drive to another drive.

Feel free to post back if further assistance is needed.
