Windows 10: Unable to Change Permission to Full Control on Registry Keys

I need to edit a registry key but before I do so, I need to be granted full control of the key. I am getting an error message when I try to do this. I am already listed as the owner of the key. I have tried changing both my administrator account as well as my use account to allow full control but neither allow me to change this. How can I give myself full control of the key?

Any way to edit the registry without loading Windows?

You will need to find a way to grant yourself permissions for full control of that hive/key.
Just as the "Trusted Installer" has.
You may have to log on as admin to do this.

I did it a long time ago, to get rid of & edit some hives, keys, etc.

ATITool registry key

Hello,

During ATITool installation, the following registry key was added to my registry:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{85b5ddd0-e090-4b15-bdf2-a443a3ca0b66}"

After uninstalling the program, this key remained. I tried to delete it through the registry editor but it returned the following error:

"Cannot delete {85b5ddd0-e090-4b15-bdf2-a443a3ca0b66}: Error while deleting key."

I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit by the way. I also tried to change permissions for the key and deleting in safe mode, but neither of those worked either.

Any ideas on how i can remove this key? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

 

Unable to save changes to permissions on registry key

I am attempting to resolve the following event error associated with Runtime broker caused by having an obsolete SID associated with this object stored in the permissions.

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

{D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}

and APPID

{9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}

to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

I have changed the permissions on the registry key for CLSID 'D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160' to be administrators, and saved the change. I have then attempted to remove the permission associated with the Unknown SID using
the advance edit settings, but when I click on "APPLY" to save the removal, the SID reappears.

I have searched Google, and cannot find any reference failures to make changes to registry key permissions. I do not get any error in the "remove" or making the change to the key's owner. Adminstrators have full permission to
the key.
